Arboretum mittumaarina

IMG_6029

Värejä, muotoja, kaikkea on aivan valtavasti enemmän! Toivottavasti viihdytte tälläkin virtuaalikierroksella mukanani!

  1. Everything looks beautiful. Thanks for sharing your photos!

I was wondering if you ever come across interesting shade gardens. We just bought a house with lots of big trees in the backyard, so we are focusing on shade plants for hardiness zone 7 or 6. I guess we will purchase plants such as ferns, hostas, hakonechloa, and astilbes. If you happen to visit any gardens that have nice shade plants, it would be great to see a photo of them. Are you in hardiness zone 5?

  2. Thanks Katherine! I'll keep my eyes open for a nice shady garden the next time I'm out and about. My garden is on the zone 4 on the European hardiness zone map, although its close approximity to the large lake makes it locally a very warm, south-facing it is, garden. I've planted ferns in the shade of the house so we're not far off from your choice of plants either. Where were you located again? Thanks for the tip, focusing on the shade for a bit now :)

  3. I live about half way in between Baltimore, Maryland and Washington, D.C. The weather is unpredictable. Some summers are scorching hot. Some winters we get a couple of feet of snow. Sometimes we get a whole year of mild weather. This year has been good, so far.

Heuchera is tremendously popular around here. I don't remember seeing it when I was younger. It's everywhere now.

  4. I'm not that familiar with the US weather or hardiness zones in general, so I checked my map and located you there. Sounds like very difficult, changing conditions for plants to take! I'll see if I come across anything interesting in the shade for you during my summer vacation - you have a nice summer as well!
